This was a cozy enclave in Oldenburg. What a surprise! Just the right size so you feel like you're with family. Our server was Baily. She was 👍. Their fried chicken is to die for. Hate to say it, but a close first to Hollyhock. Its right off 229 at the Mobil station, i believe. Next to church in town. Worth the drive.

This place is amazing!! Excellent fried chicken - pan fried - mashed potatoes and cole slaw, served family style. From the moment you walk in, you feel like family. The lady behind the bar is like your Mom and Tiffany was a great sever. We live about 45 minutes away but love Wagner’s!

Chicken is great although they were small pieces sides were ok potatoes were instant potatoes at least they tasted like it. My daughter had a pork lion...she said it was not very good I tasted it she was right! Best thing here is the chicken!

Well worth the detour. On way from Cincinnati to Wisconsin, stopped for gas and looked for local place. Did not disappoint. Fried chicken was excellent. Coleslaw delicious. Didnt take much arm twisting for dessert, Blackberry Cobbler. And it was so good!

Chicken is awesome! Worth the drive and wait. Made to order.

The food here is just simply good really good like really really good. The people that work there seemed to know every single regular customer. And they seem to have a lot of regular customers. If you're visiting the area it's definitely one of those places where you can step in feel like a local and really breathe in the local atmosphere. This town is gorgeous as it is and this local eatery feels like what you would expect an American local eatery to be

Great food! We shared a 1/2 fried chicken with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Their chicken was peppery and didn't seem as greasy as other places. Coleslaw was quite tasty as well. Good service as well! Definitely looking forward to another visit.

I'm from Michigan drove 5 hours to Batesville Indiana for bed training at Hillrom Corp. Went to Wagner's for dinner, it was the best chicken dinner I've ever had. I would drive back for an extended weekend just for their pan fried chicken dinner!! Beautiful little town! Well done thank you Jeff the bartender for the great service and history lesson!

Absolutely best chicken I have ever had. Hands down. Just a mom and pop restaurant, nothing fancy.....but the chicken! Green beans were excellent too.

Fried chicken made to order and comes to your table hot. And a lot cracked black pepper in the coating lends a mild heat to the eating experience. Folks serving seem nice, but our service was sub-par when we visited (could have been easily solved with better communication). Overall, worth a stop if you're in the area.

This is one of our favorite destinations for a motorcycle ride with friends. We all order the fried chicken dinner, and the slaw, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, and delicious soft dinner rolls are served family style in bowls on the table. Very good.

This is my most favorite restaurant. We travel 60 miles both ways but it is well worth it.

Great food and customer service

A cozy little restaurant in an out of the way place. The coleslaw is to die for. The family style dinner is more than 2 people can eat so plenty of leftovers. The mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans are very good. They are known for their fried chicken and it was a miss. It had way to much pepper on it. Don’t know if that’s the norm or not.

Great food! You cannot go wrong with the chicken and sides. The decor gives you all the small town feels.

We had the pan fried chicken and 1/2 order of gizzards. Both were more deep fried, very overdone and very small. The Bloody Mary's were excellent and salad and coleslaw were good. Mashed potatoes were box and gravy canned. This was an over priced disappointment.

So I live about 2 hours away from this place.... I come here once a year. The chicken is the best pan fried chicken I have had in my life. It is life changing!!!!!! It’s like the time my cousin showed me that told you turn the gum ball machine slowly you could get an extra gum ball. The picture says everything...... yup it’s gone......

Went on a Sunday for lunch and it took them over an hour to get any food out to us. Food was good but the wait made it to where I would rather go elsewhere next time.

Love the food here! Great fried chicken. Most of all, we love the friendliness of Betsy... She made us feel very welcome and invited us to call her anytime we're back in town and tell her to "throw a chicken on" when we're on the way. 🤗 Can't wait to go back....

Very good coleslaw and fried chicken. The price is very reasonable. I had Fried chicken, coleslaw, mashed potato, green beans and dinner roll. We went at an off time, Monday at 1:00 and the food and service was excellent.

Absolutely THE BEST fried chicken, anywhere! Anywhere! The huge cast iron skillets fry up to four chickens at a time. All I can say, is WOW! Haven’t had chicken like this since my grandmother died!!

Ms. Betsy is just the best. I always make sure that I say hi to her. Even if you hardly know her, she feels like family. She gives the best hugs. I love seeing Tif behind the bar she's great and is always so good to my family. The lady who is always there is one of the best servers in town. Forgive me, I forget her name. She is tall and has bangs. There are always people cleaning off your table and taking used dishes. It's never cluttered and you never go thirsty. The food is simply the best comfort food you can get in town!

Great fried chicken and great service.

First and last time I will ever step back into this restaurant. My husband and I waited for 45 minutes for a table. One table was needing to be cleaned and we were next in line to be seated, in the mean time a gentleman came in and noticed this table. He proceeded to tell the hostess that he needed a table for five, this table seated four. The hostess looked at us and told us that they were waiting on a booth to be cleared before we could be seated. I kindly explained that we prefer a table(I am not a tiny person and sometimes booths are kinda tight to sit in). The hostess proceeded to go talk to her manager and came back to let us know that it would be another hour before we would get our food. My thinking is we had been sitting there for 45 minutes or so therefore we should have been seated way before this group of five especially since they just walked in the door and I would of happily waited for the food. What happened to first come first served?

We came across this place an ordered what everyone there had on their table which was the "chicken dinner" I ate so many green beans an mashed potatoes I had no room but a few notes of the chicken which was really good. I was surprised at the 10 family's/,couples that all had the same thing. So if your in the area stop in an check them out. Thanks for having us an the staff are super friendly. While you wait for your food check out the photos on the wall an out the phones away an enjoy.

I have been going to this place for many years and love it and the chicken. Today they were a little off their game. Chicken was way over done and it took a long time to get our order. I'll still return, because I love their pan fried chicken, but was very disappointed today.

My wife and I shared a chicken dinner. We got a whole chicken (10 pieces), plus slides of mashed potatoes, green beans and cole slaw, plus our drinks. The sides was endless. We didn't need any more. Definitely will go back again.

Been there many times before. Today the wait was EXCESSIVE and the food was not good. Always have gone for the chicken but today had no taste. The chopped steak was way over done. The smoked chops were very tough. For the $. I won't be back.
